Vortex mufflers May 2003 Brian

Sorry about the noise neighbours,I removed my exhaust!May 6 2003 at 8:59 PM Brian  (no login)

I decided to finally remove my exhaust system and shed the weight and restriction to gain that tenth I was looking for.
I had 2 1/2" pipe out the back with really heavy Vortex mufflers(ever heard of them). Anyways, I would like to install some sort of muffler to the header or collector to keep the noise down. Any ideas? Does it help much? Oh yea, I also removed my blower motor system, wiper motor and my extra carpet that was below my newer one.
Thanks all,
Brian

I put... May 7 2003, 3:22 PM

a pair of their mufflers on my car they are light but only made AFAIK for Fox bodies. sound like flowmasters @ idle then get real loud. They sound like glass packs until about 3500 rpm. After that they made mine sound like a stock car. Probably sound the same if installed in the collectors since the mufflers are just an insert in a 2.5" tube.

Did you use the two or three.. May 9 2003, 12:28 AM

plate one? I wonder what the coppers would do if they stopped you and looked under the car, and no mufflers!

the car would be impounded whether the noise level level was legal or not. They don't care about losing in court, they still get their overtime pay.

Its a track car only May 9 2003, 7:57 AM

I haven't run the car on the street in 2yrs. Even when I did,the cops were a pain in the a**. I dont street race,I save it for the track like everyone else should do. If I was going to run it on the street, I would keep a stock motor in the car to keep the cops off your back.

YEA i wish i had a track May 9 2003, 10:15 AM

For some of us street racing is the only way to race. Not that I think im being a rebel but, I live in connecticut and there are 2 tracks i know of, englishtown and one in upstate NY. Englishtown is over 300 miles away (i think) its over a 5.5 hour trip and my car is definately not up to that then if i blow it racing, how do i get home? If we had a track in connecticut I'd agree that racing is for the track only but for now I'll just have to keep giving hotrodders a bad rep up here.

Sorry bout my crying

How about these mufflers May 11 2003, 8:08 PM

I run a set of dynomax bullit ,ufflers on my race car, they do not hurt performance and quiet the engine noise down just enough, but still sound very throaty. I have an 87 stang, with 351c and powerglide, the car runs consistent 6.70's with a 60ft of 1.48-1.49 down here in tampa florida. hope this suggestion helps.
